Job Description:

The Accounting & Financial Analyst is a critical role in a vibrant startup. Your primary responsibility will be daily and monthly accounting functions, yearly budget and forecasts, financial analysis and financial modeling. Your work will be used to directly fuel growth for Safe + Fair. This role requires collaboration with multiple groups within the business, such as: marketing, sales, operations and innovation. Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Monthly P&L analysis; including actual versus budget and prior year
    • Sales, gross margin and product pricing by channel
    • Trend & variance analysis on direct sales expense & variable cost
  • Monthly freight analysis
    • Analyzing freight expense trends by freight line – inbound, outbound (B2B), eCommerce (D2C)
    • Comparison as percent of sales by customer to determine outliers and/or geographic cost increases. Elevate these findings to management team to take action & drive cost reduction
  • Bi-weekly analysis by sales channels by customer & SKU to calculate broker commissions
  • Weekly reporting to sales team of monthly actuals to plan
  • Assist with building annual budgets and reforecasts
  • Ad hoc financial modeling & pro forma


  • Daily operational accounting, ranging from: issuing POs, entering bills and recording payments
  • Ownership of accounts payable + accounts receivable processes
  • Month end closeout, to include: recording journal entries & accruals, bank & credit card reconciliations, balance sheet schedules & reconciliations, inventory reconciliation and quarterly reserve adjustments
  • Monthly financial statement preparation according to GAAP
  • Bi-monthly reporting to board & investors


  • Facilitate daily warehouse purchase orders
  • Coordinate daily logistics/transportation movement
  • Track open orders through delivery + address any issues as they arise
  • Assist with inventory management (multiple co-manufacturers and warehouses)
  • Assist manufacturing production forecasts for four co-manufacturing facilities and two warehouses


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required
  • 1-3 years experience preferred
  • It is necessary to be energetic with a can-do attitude while using independent judgment and prioritization
  • Ability to multi-task and to adapt rapidly to changing priorities
  • Maintain organization in work with strong attention to detail
